Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, Pangasinan State University, Asingan Campus held an extensive tree planting drive on Arbor day in the campus backyard, August 9.

Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, campus executive director, along with Dr. Philip G. Nonales, dean of Student & Alumni Affairs, guided the faculty and staff in the event, which included active participation from local officials, students, SSC, Advanced ROTC officers and KALAHI staff.

The seedlings for the tree planting were provided by the Local Government Unit of Asingan, with coordination from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office led by Mr. Julian M. Ilumin. This support from the LGU highlighted the strong collaboration between the campus and local government in advancing environmental initiatives.

Barangay officials from Domanpot led by Hon. Gilbert S. Piso, chairperson, played also a significant role in the activity, alongside the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials led by SK Chairman Benjoe T. Baquirin, who demonstrated the youth’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Student Supreme Council (SSC) officers, headed by Hazel Baybayan, SSC president, also mobilized the student body to participate, reflecting the importance of student involvement in environmental causes.

Meanwhile, the Advanced ROTC officers, under the leadership of Dr. Julie Agpaoa, also provided essential support, ensuring the smooth and organized execution of the event.

The day featured the planting of various fruit bearing trees across the campus, aligning with PSU’s ongoing green initiatives.
