The 3-Wheeled Classroom project extensionists from Pangasinan State University, Asingan Campus, led by Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, campus executive director, continued their mission to teach and tutor out-of-school youth (OSYs) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) students at Narciso R. Ramos Elementary School SPED Center on August 19.
This extension project, aimed at enhancing literacy among OSYs, brought essential learning materials directly to the school, creating an environment conducive to advanced education for both OSYs and ALS students.
Dr. Mary Jane U. Quibilan, General Education chairman and project proponent, along with Dr. Elsa Q. Terre, PRIO coordinator and co-proponent, together with Kalahi staff members, Mr. Lorence P. Rosario and Ms. Almira Clutario, as well as with the ALS teachers, Ms. Mary Jane Diosay and Mr. Ramjek Bueno of NRRES-SC, engaged with the ALS students and OSYs.
Dr. Joseph P. Reyes, principal of NRRES-SC and Dr. Antonio Federico Jr. from the Curriculum Implementation division welcomed and guided the extensionists. The group conducted instructional sessions and assessments to encourage these youth to attend or return to school.
Utilizing the Digital Reading and Writing (DRAW) approach, the project also enhanced comprehension and critical thinking skills by engaging students, relating new information to their existing knowledge, analyzing content and guiding them in expressing their understanding through reading and writing.
The extension group is committed to provide tutorial and teaching services to ensure consistent access to quality education, with the financial support from the LGU of Asingan, led by Municipal Mayor Engr. Carlos F. Lopez Jr.
Dr. Quibilan highlighted the project’s mission, stating, “This initiative is not just about teaching; itโs about equipping these young learners with the tools they need to succeed. By bringing education to their doorsteps, we make learning both accessible and engaging.”
โThe 3-Wheeled Classroom project also reflected the dedication of extensionists and local partners in bridging educational gaps, ensuring that no learner is left behind. As the project progresses, the team looks forward to expand its reach and further improving educational outcomes for OSYs and ALS students in Asingan and beyond,โ Dr. Terre said.
