In response to heavy rains and the effects of typhoon Carina, Pangasinan State University, Asingan Campus has implemented proactive measures to safeguard its students and staff. A fogging operation was carried out yesterday, July 28, 2024, to eliminate potential breeding sites for dengue-carrying mosquitoes and other harmful bacteria.

Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, campus executive director and Dr. Philip G. Nonales, dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, initiated the activity to ensure a safe and healthy campus environment in the wake of the recent severe weather. Mr. Randy Vergara, security personnel on duty, also assisted the barangay officials of Domanpot, headed by Brgy. Captain, Hon. Gilbert Piso.

โ€œThe health and safety of our campus are of utmost importance,โ€ Dr. Tingco stated in a phone interview. โ€œWith the recent heavy rains and typhoon Carina, the risk of mosquito-borne diseases has increased,” she added.

Dr. Nonales stressed the importance of continuous vigilance and community involvement in maintaining campus hygiene and safety. โ€œAddressing the immediate threat is just the beginning,โ€ he said. โ€œWe need to cultivate a culture of cleanliness and proactive health measures among our students and staff.โ€

The specialized team conducted the fogging operation with advanced fogging machines, focusing on areas such as classrooms and offices, as well as locations with stagnant water, which are prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
