The annual Brigada Eskwela has mobilized the Pangasinan State University, Asingan Campus, with hundreds of volunteers from the campus and local community coming together to prepare the campus for the upcoming school year 2024-2025. Beginning today, August 14 and running through August 15, the initiative unites faculty, staff, students, parents and residents in a collective effort to enhance campus facilities and strengthen community involvement in education.

Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, campus executive director, emphasized the significance of community involvement in education, noting that the success of Brigada Eskwela relies on collective effort. Volunteers are actively participating in various activities, including cleaning classrooms, repairing furniture, and gardening, all aimed at enhancing the learning environment for students. The event also reinforces the importance of unity, with participants sharing stories of camaraderie and teamwork, reflecting the community’s resilience and commitment to education.

Municipal Councilor Hon. Joel Viray, together with his team, and Barangay Captain Hon. Gilbert S. Piso of Domanpot, Asingan, along with his barangay officials and staff, have also played an active role in Brigada Eskwela, assisting in cleaning and removing weeds around the campus. Additionally, Municipal Councilor Hon. Athena G. Chua has supported the campus by participating and being present in this initiative in the afternoon, further reinforcing the strong collaboration between the local government and PSU-AC, and highlighting the shared commitment to improving the educational environment.

Different departments of PSU-AC are also playing significant roles in the ongoing event. The BIT department, under Engr. Carlos Castillo, Jr., is managing the faรงade, back portion, classrooms, and laboratories of the BIT building. The BSE and BEE departments, led by Asst. Prof. Laurence Agsalud, chairperson, are responsible for the FVR building faรงade, classrooms, PSU Frontage, BSE English areas, speech laboratory, BSE Science, and Science Laboratory.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Jane U. Quibilan, chairperson of the General Education department, is overseeing the walkway from the guardhouse to the FVR building and room 17. The BSIT department, headed by Asst. Prof. Ma. Jo Ann Ventura, is handling the front and back portions of the Agri-Business building, Lacson building, classrooms and IT laboratory.

The BSBA department, along with the ROTC and Utility units led by Dr. Lobien Soriano, BSBA chair, and Dr. Julie Agpaoa, ROTC coordinator, are in charge of the BSBA building, student center, and covered courts. Lastly, Ms. Mary Ann S. Naluaran, BTLED chairperson, is managing the BTLED classrooms, with other employees attending to their respective offices.

McKinley Sunico, Public Relations officer of SSC and a third-year BSE student, said, “Kahit na nakakapagod maglinis, worth it naman dahil makikita ulit ng mga PSUnian ang ganda ng ating campus.”
