Pangasinan State University, Asingan Campus, led by Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, campus executive director, took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by celebrating World Environment Day 2024 with a tree-planting initiative, June 5.
Assistant Professor Adoracion Gante, extension coordinator, initiated the event with the theme, ‘REI-freshing the world through proactive environmental action’.
Dr. Honelly S. Cascolan, dean of the College of Education, Asst Prof. JB O. Doria, dean of the College of Business and Technology and Dr. Philip G. Nonales, dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, along with the department chairs, faculty, staff and students, joined the activity.
The event began with a ceremonial tree planting, symbolizing the commitment to nurturing the environment for future generations. Participants enthusiastically planted trees in designated areas across the campus, contributing to the growth of green spaces and biodiversity conservation efforts.
Through collaborative efforts of administrators, faculty, staff and students, the campus community showed its dedication to maintain a clean and sustainable environment.
Dr.Tingco expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in the event, stating, “Our collective efforts today are a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship. By coming together to plant trees, we are taking proactive steps towards a greener and healthier future.”
Asst. Prof. Gante emphasized the importance of ongoing environmental initiatives, stating, “World Environment Day serves as a reminder that environmental conservation is a collective responsibility. Through initiatives like this, we can make a tangible impact on the health of our planet.”
