TO BE EFFECTIVE IN WORKPLACE, understanding the psychology of praising others for a job well done by applying the principles of employee recognition as a cornerstone of effective management, is very important.

This is what Lingayen Campus wants to inculcate in the heart of every employee, the culture of recognition.

This August 2 (Monday) during the conduct of flag ceremony, Dr. Lorna G. Urbiztondo (LGU) recognized the outstanding performance and exemplary contributions of the utility personnel in achieving all the successes of the institution for past years.

“Creating this culture of recognition has become more important than ever. This way of showing administration’s support helps employees know that their contributions are recognized and appreciated,” said by LGU.

Moreover, the said employee recognition dubbed as Tribute and Incentive Program (TRIP), supports the university’s goals and values—to be excellent in their service delivery.

Mr. Rolando Rosario was named as “Employee of the Month” for July, besting other 11 personnel namely: Noel Castro, Orlando dela Cruz, Panfilo Cruz, Jr., Danilo Ferrer, Florencio Baoda, Mac Denver Dangla Cruz, John Aquino, Melvin Baranda, Fritz de Guzman, Alvin de Vera, and Lino Ferrer, who were also recognized in the event.

In recent conducts of quality assurance assessments namely AACCUP Accreditations, Institutional Assessment by CHEd, Philippine Quality Award Evaluation, ISO Survey Visits, and the like— workers in the Physical Plants and Facilities Unit played a big role in maintaining the orderliness of all offices and laboratories in the campus, getting their jobs done even amid the pandemic.

“They are very vital in our campus especially during this time of CoViD [pandemic], they put themselves at risk as being frontliners, working to adjust work routines to a ‘new normal’ and in keeping up the safety of every PSUnian,” LGU added.

To help them in performing their duties and responsibilities, gifts were given to 12 utility personnel to spice up the recognition activity.

In 2018, it can be recalled that Pangasinan State University (PSU) was awarded by an internationally-recognized body, Investors in People (IiP), as Silver Awardee in the 10th IiP Concourse held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premiere, Taguig City.

Through the submission of the university in the prestigious award, the institution strengthened employee engagement more specifically in instituting a process in selecting and honoring productive employees in the university.   /mmpd
