According to Pulse Asia’s November-December survey, 47 percent of Filipinos said they will not get vaccinated, 32 percent will, while 21 percent are undecided. Of the total respondents, 84 percent said they are not sure it’s safe.
This means, rolling out COVID-19 vaccine is not as simple as it should be especially that availability of vaccines has compounded the news cycle with the world’s hegemonies jostling to be first in line.
Thus, the Office of the Student Services and Alumni Affairs headed by Prof. Celeste T. Mercado in cooperation with the Medical-Dental Unit led by Dr. Christia Marie P. Flores carried out a seasonable University-Wide Webinar Series on COVID-19 Vaccine Roll-out on April 27, 2021 via Zoom.
The said U-Wide webinar is the sequel to the COVID-19 vaccine awareness intended for the students. The participants involved the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Pangasinan State University.
“The COVID-19 vaccine serves as our first layer of defense against the virus. Therefore, we need to be informed and participate in the national vaccination program for us to attain herd immunity,” said Dr. Cielo E. Almoite, OIC-Chief of Lingayen District Hospital.
Dr. Almoite during her speech as guest speaker also emphasized that unless one gets vaccinated, we cannot fully protect our loved ones, families, friends and the community. “Regardless of the brand of vaccine, when it is your time to get vaccinated, grab the opportunity to protect those most dear to you,” added the good doctor.
