“Teacher is the most influential person in the classroom. So I urge all of you, do not just teach, lead and inspire.”
These are words from no other than Pangasinan State University (PSU) President, Dr. Dexter R. Buted, as he stressed in front of Lingayen Campus faculty members to serve as light to students by motivating them to be good citizens of the country.
This is in line with the campus celebration of World Teacher’s Day, this October 6 (Tuesday) at PSU Technical-Vocational Building Study Area with the theme, “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”.
He also addressed that even in this situation, teachers should serve as beacon of hope and inspiration to the community- performing as prime mover to make education accessible to all, under any circumstances.
“It is not enough to be best, if possible strive to be great,” he added as he pushed all the teachers to excel on their noblest profession and to serve the university with heart even there are challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Aside from the inspirational message, the event also highlighted a welcome party for the newly-hired faculty members from six departments namely: Economics, Hospitality Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, General Education and Teacher Education Specialization Courses.
Moreover, the newly-hired faculty were given university pins as sign of being part of the PSU family after they showcased their talents and skills through an intermission number. Said celebration concluded with a solidarity lunch prepared by the Campus Administration headed by Dr. Lorna G. Urbiztondo, Executive Director. /mmpd
