Three-feat-finished was recorded for Lingayen Campus as Pangasinan State University (PSU) hailed Mohamed Ardaniel C. Swandi, the newest recipient of the title “Most Outstanding PSU Student” for the Gawad Parangal Awards.

Since the Gawad Parangal began in 2015, it can be recalled that Lingayen Campus snatched the top posts with Menard P. Nava and Mark Marlon P. De Vera in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Meanwhile, Swandi who is the 3rd recipient of the said prestigious award caught the heart of the PSU community when he shared his story in a speech during the awarding ceremony on April 04, 2017 at the PSU Convention Hall.

He is a graduating BSEd in English student and a candidate as Cum laude. He is also passionately inclined in journalism that brought him to regional and Luzonwide press conferences. His potentials were already seen when he was in elementary where he graduated as Salutatorian and brought home several recognitions and awards from various contests.

In his talk, he stressed, “This momentous day of my life proves that I am greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved by God despite of the hundred struggles that tried to destroy me.”

When he was only 3-month old baby he was already orphaned because his mother died while his Singaporean father abandoned them. But this missing piece of his life had filled with love, care and support by Ms. Clarita P. Cordero or he calls as Mama Claire whom he considered as his second parent – served as his all-in-one mother, father and teacher.

He added, “The hardest part of me is to see Mama Claire doing odd jobs to scrape for few pesos just to send me to school. That is why in return I am striving even harder to my studies to make her proud.”

Ms. Cordero in response proudly expressed her gratitude and happiness as Swandi made it in the Gawad Parangal. She also thanked PSU in providing quality education to students that contributed a lot to what Swandi is now.

Moreover, stories of all the nine Gawad Parangal Awardees were creatively rolled in an audio-visual presentation that stirred binary emotions to the PSU community.
