Pangasinan State University (PSU) is in one with the advocacy of the Philippine government in empowering the women in observance of the celebration of 2017 National Women’s Month anchored by the theme, “WE Make Change Work for Women.”

Dr. Gloria F. Domantay, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said in her opening talk during the university-wide celebration on March 23, 2017 that PSU through the leadership of Dr. Dexter R. Buted, President, assures its full support to the advocacies of women. She also added that women movements contribute a lot to the developments and changes happening nowadays toward nation building.

To strengthen awareness on women’s right and privileges, Atty. Ma. Fe B. Añonuevo, Legal Education Board Commissioner of Supreme Court of the Philippines discussed the Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act 9710), while Atty. Olga Angustia-Gonzales, Anti-VAWCD Chief of NBI, Department of Justice presented the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children (RA 9262).

The PSU community, on the other hand, was given the chance to raise their queries and clarifications to the discussions of the two resource speakers.

Moreover, Dr. Merlita Q. Santos, Gender and Development Director, extended her gratitude to the warm support and cooperation of the university officials, faculty and non-teaching staff and students to this year’s celebration that significantly contributed to the attainment of women’s month key objectives.
