DREAM NEARING REALITY. A good news was shared by the Sanguniaang Bayan of Lingayen (SB-Ling) after crafting the Resolution No. 265, s.2020, expressing support to Pangasinan State University-Lingayen Campus (PSU-LC) ICT Konek Project.

ICT Konek is a brainchild project of the university which is designed to help financially challenged students with no provision of computers, electronic gadgets and internet connection by putting up learning connectivity hubs to strategic barangays.

After series of sessions, the SB-Ling had finally approved the project and is currently planning to set up four learning spaces in barangays in central, western, and southern parts of the municipality.

These learning spaces will serve as a venue for knowledge which will be equipped with necessary ICT equipment for the use of PSU students.

“We are very grateful that Sanguniaang Bayan is always supportive to endeavors like this, especially that our main beneficiaries for this project are also Lingayen constituents,” Dr. Lorna G. Urbiztondo, Campus Executive Director, said.

She added that the project will be of great help especially that the main problem encountered by the students in PSU’s online class platform is internet connectivity as based on surveys conducted.

As a next step, the administration is preparing to forge a Memorandum of Agreement with Municipal Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil to launch the project implementation especially that the online classes had already started last September 7, 2020.

“It is always good that the university and LGU are working hand and hand in providing accessible education even in these tough times,” Urbiztondo said.

In the resolution, the LGU Lingayen expressed their appreciation to the efforts and initiatives of the university in making sure that no student will be left behind in education. As of now, the campus is still reaching out the municipalities of Bugallon, Aguilar and Labrador to benchmark the said project. /mmpd
