The BTLED and Food Service researchers of Asingan Campus are geared to develop a food product that will help the fisherfolk from the coastal areas of Pangasinan. With this, the researchers came up with the idea to process the squid by creating the squid jerky snack flavored with moringa.

On March 5, 2022, the research team and the accounting staff of Asingan Campus went to Abagatenen, Agno, Pangasinan to conduct an ocular inspection for the site selection for the research entitled “Squid Jerky-Snack Moringa Flavor”.  They inspected and interviewed fishers on what species of squid is abundant in the area. They also bought different varieties of squid to be used in the research.

The Industrial Technology department, headed by Engr. Napoleon V. Esperon visited Agno, Pangasinan on March 17 – 18, 2022. They teamed up with the researcher to develop a dehydrator powered by a solar panel. The said dehydrator helps to speed up the process of drying out the moisture of the squid.

The proponents of the research are Ms. Analyn I. Diola, Ms. Marry Ann Soberano, Mr. Genesis A. Padilla, Mr. Jeffrey M. Tamayo, Ms. Mhean T. Turingan, and Ms. Adoracion T. Gante.
